What have we been doing??

We have been eating....sleeping (or at least trying to sleep)...changing messy diapers...

We finally made if home from the hospital on Friday, after waiting forever for a stupid wheelchair to take Jessica down to the exit. But we were excited to bring little Audrey home (I was sick of the hospital, hospital food and hospital beds).
As indicated in the title, we have named our baby Audrey Rachel Anne Cranney. Enjoy the pictures, you can rest assured that more will be posted on a regular basis. We are very proud of our little one. - Justin

Its a Girl!

While Jessica is resting at the hospital, I wanted to spread the news. Our baby girl decided to grace us with her presence, two weeks early. While we were surprised and had to cancel several plans we had made (no Empanda Night for example). But I am thrilled that she is now part of our family. We will post a name once we have decided. Here are some pictures for now, I am sure that more will be posted later. - Justin

Serious lack of Brain/Mouth Filtration

Why is it my friends that people don't think before they speak. Not that I am the super sensitive type...these are perfect strangers to me...but really....where is the brain mouth filter that stops the

"WHOA, WHEN ARE YOU DUE...YOU ARE HUGE???"

What do you say to that?

"Thanks??" or maybe "Your hair is beautiful...where do you have it done?" or maybe "I have just been waiting for someone to tell me that all day.....you just made me the happiest girl EVER!!"

Really, what do they expect you to say?? It's a good thing for them that I have a sense of humor...otherwise...they might be getting the smack down.

Just for fun:

• # of people who lack a brain/mouth filter: at least 8 or so (that have said something to me...there are countless others who have accosted pregnant women in my area...don't be fooled by their innocent looking exteriors...they too lack the B/M filter)
  
• # of people who have asked if I am having twins: 2
• # of people who have stared down my belly in the grocery store: 1 creepy little man (Why I ask you?? Why?? Didn't give me the time of day...just stared at my belly the whole time he was approaching and didn't stop until I was around the corner and he couldn't see it anymore...WEIRD! Keep your creepiness away from my baby!!)
  

Baby vs. Ribs

Hi...It's March...this baby is due April 14. Is anyone else a little freaked out?? Probably not huh?

I can tell she's getting bigger...my ribs are apparently in her way...as are my bladder and lungs. How rude of them...they are not winning the space battle. She moves and kicks like a crazy lady (must come from her father's side of the family). She probably already thinks she's hilarious!!

Where does the time go??

I realize this picture is a little frightening...but it is how I feel recently.

Just a LITTLE BIT CRAZY!!

So I am 31 weeks this week...9 weeks-ish and counting. We have been so busy lately and it's making the time go by so fast. Here are some of the things we have been doing:

1. Birthing class - I decided to take a Hypnobirthing class. Some of it is a little bit out there, but the basic premise is cool. Justin really likes the relaxation exercises...he has fallen asleep not once but twice. He also got to wear the empathy belly which was pretty funny. That's what he gets for making sarcastic remarks during class. Our instructor was asking us about pregnancy pains/problems...Justin pipes up and says that he is suffering from a serious lack of bed space. I have to have a pillow in front and behind me...it helps me sleep!! She made him wear the belly the whole class period (not because she is mean, but i think she just forgot to have him take it off - I thought it was fantastic!!).

2. Justin wore shorts for the first time this year (yes it is still February, but according to my polar bear husband...40+ degrees is definitely short and t-shirt weather). Just as a side note it was definitely a beautiful day...then a couple days later it snowed.

3. We had a great Valentine's Day...I worked all day and when I got home Justin made me a fantastic dinner! It was really good! Then we spent the evening watching Madagascar 2 and eating ice cream. What more could a girl ask for?? A clean house, a man in the kitchen and some ice cream...I can't think of anything better.

4. Getting ready for baby...weird. We realized that yesterday is exactly two months from my due date. That's close. My feeling is that she is going to come late. Like a week late...that's my hunch. Here are a few of the things we are in LOVE with...I couldn't post everything because then my post would be about a million miles long. Here are some recent things...

I don't know why this little hoodie is so adorable to me (It's seriously cuter in real life) I almost can't even stand it. You have to love Macy's clearance sales + great coupons!!

Both Justin and I really like this little skull cap...which really surprised me because I didn't think Justin would like it at all...I think it's so stinking cute!

These bibs were made by a certain talented relative that will remain nameless so that no one feels bad...These are a few of my favorite prints...I love them!

5. Cleaning...I have started into the "nesting phase" and I really just want to organize all of our closets and clean the fridge...and scrub everything. I just really want to... but haven't yet. We have been busy. I am doing a few things at a time.

6. I have been going to the gym every morning with my neighbor downstairs. We have a gym in our apartment complex which is super convenient...if you are committed to going. Which I now really am because I know my friend will be waiting for me...she knows I am coming...so we have been really good and have only missed one day since we started!! It's fantastic and I have been feeling so much better too...one of those DUH things that is kinda hard to do.

7. I have a problem...a grapefruit problem. I have been eating about 2 of them a day...they are just so tasty. In the almost five years we have been married, I have NEVER bought a grapefruit. Actually, even before that....I have never ever bought a grapefruit...ever. They are just really good to me lately. MMMHHH, grapefruit.

8. There have been lots of other things we have been doing, but I can't remember them at the moment. Braincells...you know how it goes.

9. Dexter knows something is up and he is pretty perturbed about not being able to play with any of the new stuff that has come into our house recently. Funny story - Aunt Sara gave the baby a Fur-Real cat. It's basically a little mechanical kitten that moves and purrs and makes noises. It's pretty funny! Dexter freaks out when it moves and makes noise...he doesn't know whether to try to play with it or chew on it. It makes him crazy...so of course Justin uses it to torment him. It's just out of his jumping range here on the counter.

27 Weeks

Is it just me or has this month been insane?? This is my view...does anyone see my feet?? I don't think so!

This is for posterity...and my cute sister in law, Angela. Here is my belly at 27 weeks.

So we have been getting a few things for our little one...this beauty is going in her room...maybe we can teach her to save (unlike her Mother...Dad will be doing the teaching). Dexter is checking it out...it's almost as big as he is. I love working in a baby boutique!!

Christmas and New Years

Merry Christmas!! We were able to go down to Utah for Christmas to visit my family. We were supposed to fly out Christmas day because I had to work until 3 on Christmas Eve. We had been planning to drive but were worried about the weather so we got a flight just in case. Anyway it ended up working out that we were able to drive so Justin picked me up right after work and we left. We were blessed to get going ahead of the storm that was coming in and we only hit one patch of pretty nasty road. My family was pretty excited...and my mom had been pretty worried because the weather Christmas day was supposed to be pretty UGLY!! We got to my parents house and they already had about a foot and a half of snow...we got another 6-8 inches that night. Luckily they didn't have to go anywhere for Christmas day! We only got two pictures of Christmas morning?? You don't get to see one of them because I am in it and look like poo.

We kept Christmas really simple and inexpensive this year. I hate to say it but I was pretty upset about it at first because Justin and I decided not to get each other anything this year. BUT, we were able to give presents to the rest of our family and that was pretty fun cause we are AWESOME and found some pretty cool stuff (well really Justin is awesome and can find anything online for a ridiculously low price). It's amazing what you can do with a few dollars and a little bit of Christmas love!!

And HAPPY NEW YEAR! Our New Years was fun too, we were able to go to our friend's house for some food, games and movies...we stayed until 2. I am still tired.

Um...when is this baby coming again?

Today...

1. I am feeling huge.
2. I parked in the expectant parents spot at the store and didn't feel the least bit guilty.
3. I realized that this baby is coming whether we are ready or not...and it's not that far off. April isn't just a random month next year...it's right around the corner.
4. I am grateful for after Christmas clearance sales...baby will be too.
5. I have read my scriptures every day this year! I am 100%...wahoo! (I know that it's only the 2nd, but I believe in celebrating the small victories)
6. I am SO GRATEFUL for my HANDSOME husband...not just because he is the love of my life or the funniest guy I know...but because he is a GRILLED CHEESE MASTER. I would have married him just for his grilled cheese skills...he's pretty amazing.

(Yes, I realize that I appear to be a very healthy eater in this picture, but if it counts I did have a salad too...lots of veggies.)
7. We still don't have a name for this baby...why is it so hard?
8. We have found a new way to entertain our dog...a treat ball. It's fabulous!

9. I should probably be in bed sleeping right now, but I am not...I am blogging....

Monster

Turkey, Dog Scarves and Monsters

Can I just say that I LOVE THANKSGIVING...not just because we get to remember to be thankful, but because we have a special day to eat!! I love mashed potatoes and gravy and turkey. We are so grateful that we live closer to family and get to take short plane trips instead of 5 hour ones!! This Thanksgiving we were able to fly up to see Justin's family and spend the weekend with them. (They are pretty funny people!)

On Thanksgiving Justin's sisters got together and made crazy headbands for everyone...Indian headbands with feathers for the girls and turkey drumsticks for the boys...it was pretty funny!!

Dog Scarf Dexter

It's been a little bit cold at our house...we just barely turned the heat on this last week because it was just too cold! Dexter gets a little bit cold...so he tries to take advantage of any body heat we radiate.

So we found this cool little monster in the Seattle airport and he really had to come home with us...because really...he's cool!!

It's a GIRL!

So last week, we found out we are having a GIRL!! It was a pretty cool ultrasound because they check to make sure the heart has all the chambers and they check for a bladder and kidneys and the little brain and do all sorts of measurements...and then they tell you what you are having. It was kinda weird, but very cool.

She has been moving around A LOT this past week and when we went for the ultrasound, she refused to move at all. She stayed head down as far as she possibly could. The ultrasound tech couldn't get us a profile shot because our little lady wouldn't cooperate. (Figures...she definitely gets that from her father!!) The tech kept poking my stomach trying to get her to move...she wouldn't budge. So, all we got were Skeletor shots...it's a little weird, but what can you do...so here's Skeletorina.

I keep hearing stories about people being told they are having a girl and then they really have a boy. Hopefully this doesn't change...so for right now...WE ARE HAVING A GIRL!! And we are both very excited!!

A Beautiful Little Something for Sunday!

Check it out!! It's beautiful and it's put to the song Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. Which is one of my favorites. I had never even heard it until I saw the movie at the Kirtland Visitor's Center. You leave Kirtland singing it in your head! It's so beautiful, I love it!

Some other things...mostly food...because really...it's food.

It snowed a couple of weeks ago!! Crazy!! I got a little bit excited and had to take a picture!!


These are a couple of just really good recipes!!

Best Lemonade Ever (or Limeade in this case!)

1 3/4 cups white sugar
8 cups water
1 1/2 cups lemon juice (or lime juice)

1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
2. Squeeze lemons for 1 1/2 cups juice, remove seeds but leave pulp if desired. In a pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.


So Tasty!! My hands hurt a little afterward because we don't have handy gadgets and I squeezed about a million limes. But it was so worth it. I love the little pulpy things!!

Sesame Chicken

Sauce:
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup chicken broth
1-2 tablespoons sesame oil (to personal taste)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 tablespoon chopped garlic
1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
1 dash red chili pepper flakes (Or more if you are my husband)
2 teaspoons cornstarch (or more if you want a thicker sauce)

Chicken:
4 chicken breasts-cubed (If you don't want to marinate the chicken in the ingredients below, it's still yummy!!)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon sherry wine (I just used chicken broth)
1/2 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice Powder (optional)
2 drops sesame oil
cornstarch to coat

Other ingredients:
veggie oil or peanut oil for frying (I didn't deep fry mine, just stir fried!!)
sesame seeds to garnish
sliced green onion to garnish
prepared rice to serve with chicken and sauce

Directions
1. Combine chicken ingredients EXCEPT cornstarch and let marinate for 30 min in the fridge.
2. Remove chicken from marinade and toss in cornstarch (if you are NOT going to deep fry - skip the corn starch!). Cook chicken in hot oil until cooked through. Remove from pan and keep warm in oven while making the sauce. (I just left mine in the pan because I added some veggies and let those cook while I was making the sauce-I already had everything for the sauce in the pot because it doesn't take that long to stir fry and I just had to heat and add the cornstarch)
3. Combine all sauce ingredients EXCEPT cornstarch in a sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
4. Mix cornstarch (for sauce) in a little water (about 1/4 cup) in a cup until dissolved then slowly add to the sauce mixture while stirring and heat until the sauce is thickened to your liking.
5. Add chicken to sauce until heated through.
6. Remove and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notice the veggies swimming in sauce so that Justin will eat them??
